Album
Nirvana by Bktherula
Bktherula layers her vocals in a radical way which allows her to create melodies out of seemingly nothing.
Film
Weathering With You directed by Makoto Shinkai
In this version of modern Tokyo, it rains every day and has been doing so for a very long time.
Book
The Selected Poems of Pablo Neruda Translated by Anthony Kerrigan
The tangible world is often an outlet for exploitation. This may explain why Neruda dances between the abstract and concrete worlds.
Playlist
Jacob’s Juvenile Jazz features Ahmad Jamal, The Bill Evans Trio, and Dave Brubeck
Jacob’s favorite track: “Around Midnight” by Michel Petrucciani
Description: “The juvenile jazz playlist exhibits a collection jazz pieces that I found over the past couple months that have either energized me into a state of euphoric groove or have flattened me out in ways that leave me in stable, yet simultaneously melancholy. The pieces inside range in tonality, rhythm, and style, from jazz fusion, to more Latin jazz like Brazilian bossa nova and samba, to more somber ballads on solo piano and saxophone; there is no predetermined ordering to the playlist, only an atmosphere that introduces the best jazz has to offer.”
