On this week's episode, Sam and Teresa interview Patrick Shiroishi over a glass of pickle juice. Patrick Shiroishi is a Los Angeles-based Japanese-American multi-instrumentalist & composer known for blending free jazz, abstract sounds, and layering saxophone and woodwinds. His newest album, Hidemi, acts as a tribute to his grandfather, a survivor of the Japanese-American internment camps. Shiroishi talks to Teresa and Sam about his introduction to the saxophone, the importance of his album art, as well as Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore.
